INTRODUCTION

The Center of Family Law, School of Law (Faculty of Law), Padjadjaran University was officially established in early 1996, with its office located at the

Private Law Room, Imam Bonjol 21, Bandung, Telephone/Fax : 62-22-250-8514.

The proponent of this Center are lecturers in the fields of Adat Law, Private Law, Islamic Law, Labor Law, and other fields relevant to Family Law.

Research and training carried out by this group is focussed on the private law aspects of relevant fields of family law, as follows :

The substantive research object of inheritance law covers all relevant aspects of inheritance, from different approaches (points of view) :

1. Inheritance according to Adat Law
2. Inheritance according to Islamic Law
3. Inheritance according to Private Law

PURPOSE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CENTER

The Center of Family Law is established for the purpose of creating a forum for lecturers of the relevant fields, to carry out study, research, discussions and problem solving mechanism, to gain ideas and broaden their intellectual minds, for the lecturers themselves as well part of the process of gaining knowledge as part of the study and teaching process.

ACTIVITIES

Existing activities :

1. Routine monthly meetings to discuss substantive matters relating to family law

1. National Seminar on the Consolidation of Legal Protection for Child's Welfare Towards the Era of Globalization
2. Forthcoming activities :

Preparation of terms of proposal for the Integrated Strategic Research (RUT) and Partnership Strategic (RUK) which shall be submitted to the National Research Council (DRN). A list of topics to be submitted are, as follows :

2. Legal Protection for Children Born Outside a Marriage through the Institution of Recognition
3. Legal Protection for Children Born out of Inter-Religion Marriage
4. Consensus in the Settlement of Dispute

Aside from that the center has planned to have article-writing activities relating to family law, which shall be submitted to the International Society of Family Law.
