INTRODUCTION

For Indonesia as an archipelagic State, the enhancement of air and space activities is very meaningful for the realization of its national development plant. The utilization of air and space has increased significantly and succeeded in solving various communication problems.

Air and space law is taught at the Padjadjaran Law School since 1963, initiated by Prof. Dr. Priyatna Abdurrasyid, S.H., Ph.D. The teaching and research on air and space affairs are very important not only for the implementation of Indonesia's national air and space doctrine, but also for the interests of the national and international society to contribute to world peace and prosperity through the development of air and space law. The increased complexity of problems arising from the utilization of air and space requires the application of interdisciplinary, transsectoral and transnational approaches and the active role of scholars and practitioners in the development of air and space law.

It is against this background, the ICASL of Padjadjaran Law was set up in Bandung, on December 1988.

Objectives

The objectives of the ICASL's are to conduct and to promote research and the teaching in the field of air and space law; to enhance interdisciplinary and mutual cooperation between universities, governmental agencies and private entities dealing with air and space law affairs; and to provide educational and research services and facilities for the development of air and space activities at national, regional and international level.

Scope of Activities

1. Education and training:
2. courses in air and space law affairs; and
3. special training on certain issues, i.e. aviation policy and regulation, aviation industry, telecommunication, etc.
4. Research on air and space law affairs. The ICASL will provide opportunities for independent of joint research with national or international institutions on subjects relevant to the objectives of the ICASL.
5. Scientific meetings (seminars, workshops, symposiums, conferences, etc.)
6. Center of information exchange:

8. publication.
